Hi David.
That all seems reasonable, nothing to gripe there,
But to check the wiring and operation of a working serviceable system, and see
it is functioning correctly as per wiring if correctly done, as there is no
testing
circuit, I guess the only way is to have the engine running and remove on
of the battery leads, to check the engine and pumps will solely running on the
power from the Alternator. Maybe some one has a better way to check this.
