Hello Frank,
I have a Classic Mono with the original red block, however, I installed
the shock absorber dampers. I fly exclusively off of hard surfaces (wou
ld like to try turf one day). I typically run about 22 psi tire pressur
e. I found that lower pressure results in the caliper rubbing against t
he tire which is located in the original position. I may try moving it.
I typically will have a slight bounce on landing, although I have not
noticed a big difference between 18 psi and 22 psi. I have had some rea
lly nice landings and some not so nice. During the flare I attempt to ke
ep the plane flying as long as possible before allowing the tail wheel t
o contact the runway first...stick back and she is down. If she comes d
own too earlier then a bounce is inevitable.
Check that you have the shock absorber installed. Good luck.
