Team,
Prior to first flight I replaced the original tyre supplied by Europa with a
Tru-trac 8.00 x 6 x 6 ply after several cycles it started to rub against the
root end of the L/gear forks progressively getting worse, I made up two
spacers ending up with 3mm thick on the right side and 2mm on the left and
all was well. Having now done just over 100 cycles it is starting to rub
again on both sides, I'm loath to add more spacers for fear of getting to
close or starting to conflict with the Rudder cables passing through the
wheel well. As I see it I have two options, replace the Tyre with a narrower
one (would that be a 7.00 x 6 x 6 ?) or remove the swing arm (with all the
work that entails) and get an engineering shop to reform it, which would
allow the removal of the existing spacers and retain the existing tyre. I
would appreciate the forums thoughts on the pro's and cons as regards the
narrower tyre etc. I use grass strips, tyre at approx 20psi.
Regards
Peter Austin
