I would worry about the consequences of a landing which is not that 
severe, or at a fly-in where they make you taxi on rough turf and take a 
good whack in an unseen rut.  Have you ever done a dye-penetrant check 
on a cracked weld which is not otherwise visible?  It's not like the 
assembly is also holding the engine on during flight or anything like 
that... :-)
