Hi! Rob.
No worries about the nickle plating lifting in regular use taking the
stabilators on and off.  However some poor sod leaving the plane rigged will
eventually have it sieze up with rust then ...........!

No, no, there are only two bumpers (one front, one rear) but there is a
fender (mudguard, I believe you call it - it's been a long time since I read
my Lotus manual) at each corner, one over each of the wheels (we can ignore
those odd three wheelers).  Let's see, some other terms that I can remember
are: boot, windscreen, demister, bonnet, fascia.   You guys sure talk funny
;-)

The proper procedure is to degrease the steel, then acid dip in a mix of
hydrochloric and sulfuric to prepare for immediate electroplating.  Screw up
either step and you will get a deposit that doesn't stick, but there is
absolutely no excuse for sloppy work that causes the deposit to lift from
the substrate.  No excuse.  Ever.

I'd REALLY not want to have to replace that tube!
