Have you looked into the Kuntzleman Electronics Double Dual Magnum flash
power unit  (www.kestrobes.com)?  Power drain of 2A while providing legal
illumination in an alternating double flash pattern.  Twice as efficient as
the Whelen or Aeroflash, but a single supply, and, to be fair, incapable of
the quad comet flash of the Whelen, which sucks amps.
