In the case of Europas and other airplanes with well behaved airfoils,
sometimes the plane will still fly, high sink rate but  with a degree of
control. This can deceive an overstressed or confused pilot, particularly
close to the ground with misleading visual cues such is crosswind drift.
The danger is that any yaw input will probably result in a spin.

Long EZs and their clones will of course climb away in the stall if power
is applied.

I don't wish to denigrate the instrument, IMHO  AoA is the right way to
fly. The ASI is always several seconds behind the airplane.
