We originally located our magnetometer aft of the D panel at the side near the fuselage top and bottom joint. We had a lot of problems due to the movement of the tailplane counterweight, even though it is nearly 2 feet away. We eventually located it overhead between the doors and have had no further problems. In this location, baggage and metal items in the baggage bay do not influence it either.
