Hi Roger,

You say, 'Recently I have been experiencing a problem when starting G-BXTD
which has all the symptoms of carb. air icing."

Strange you should say that but I did notice a similar phenomena last time I
took BYSA out, but I put it down to slow warming up. She cut out on me twice
on the way to the hold. With the weather being so awful, it is almost a
distant memory now though.

When I recently asked for members to advise my about any carb icing
experiences with Europas, nobody replied. So apart from Europa's experience
in Florida, and the experience of someone over the English Channel (sorry
writer, I lost the mail), carb icing seems to be a very rare phenomena for
Europas

Whilst I am doing my winter checks I am giving consideration to installing
the Skydrive carb heater. It costs 200, and puts the carbureters back by
17MM. Sods law will no doubt turn that small displacement into a major
engineering task. The gap between the rear of the carbs and the plenum is
connected by a short length of 2 inch rubber hose. It looks as though it
should be easy, but has anyone tried it with an XS cowling before. Indeed! Is
the Skydrive carb heater an approved mod for the Europa?

Best regards, Bryan Allsop
