Doesn't seem to -- I've seen small amounts of water in the fuel samples on
several occasions, on the order of half a teaspoon. I have the Europa
filters and have not fitted a gascolator so there was also a small bit of
water in the filter when it was cleaned. (US automobile fuel exclusively so
far.)
In addition, I found a couple of drops of water in the bottom of one of the
carb float bowls -- this caused a bit of grey discoloration on the bottom of
that bowl due to apparent etching.
Interestingly, the majority of the water recovered has been from the reserve
side of the tank. This makes some sense since the fuel enters on that side
and the water probably sinks below the tank division before it can make its
way to the main side. It does encourage one to take large samples from the
reserve side though.
Water in fuel samples also causes one to monitor the tension of the gas cap
adjustment to ensure a good seal, although my Europa is garaged except on
infrequent overnight occasions.
