Here's an idea: Make the support 'contact' area about 3-4 inches wide, cut
the excess from two bicycle tubes, seal the ends with a tire patch kit, clamp
the ends to the support 'contact' area, deflate completely then refill
halfway using the foam-insulation-in-a-can stuff, install plane. If you want
to be sure it cures, take most of the weight off and cut some slits in the
tube, just watch that the first one doesn't make too much of a mess (maybe
all).
