Tim,
You are the first I have heard without a modest complaint.
Mod 66 is a good, but heavy bulky mod. Years ago Bob Berube made a hand
done modification. Later when I found some better (I thought) door
seals I found this method allowed for my thicker door seals. Later I
put into instructions here at Custom Flight for my clients.

Attached is how we do it at the shop yet today. Wordy of course.
The original is on my website, but is not our new one, which is attached
here.

Regards,
Bud Yerly

  Hi! Tim,

If the gas struts are at full pressure on the original mount point the
top rear corner of each doors begins to deform upwards and so
doesn=99t remain flush with the top of the fuselage surface by
about 1/8=9D Originally it was acceptable to flush the fuselage
out with a thicker layer of filler on it . I wonder if your gas struts
have lost some of their pressure since you were supplied and also do you
leave the doors closed for long periods in the sun and summer
temperatures?

Ted Gladstone=99s mod removes any mechanical stress from that
corner also Andy Drapers mod to reposition the ball fixing and
strengthen the aft member of the doors is much more kind to the doors.

  Hi all,

It is a funny thing because I have never had a problem with the
original design. No door deformations have occurred, opens as designed,
and occasionally in windy situations comes down which one is aware of
and can happen to any design.

The secret I believe is the bonding of the perplex into the window
frame being done correctly.

Leaving a gap between the perplex and the frame is essential for it to
be able to expand even with redux filler. Both windows and doors fitted
in situ with door handle locks in place and with bands wrapped around
the entire fuselage to hold it in place. Worked for me.

  Cheers,

  Tim

I know there is a factory mod that addresses this (at a price)
but I recall at least one other solution being mentioned in this forum.
However, despite spending some time poking around in the Matronics

relevant posting.

      Rowland,

I believe Justin Kennedy and Kingsley Hurst can address your
question.
