Hi John,
I had my cables in a nylon sheath from the front back through the
removable bulkhead behind the mono-wheel and terminating just before the
cable pulley in the tunnel. From the pulley the cable runs back to a
fairlead that I mounted on a small plywood mounting strip that I glassed
to the back of the tunnel as it opens up into the rear. I raised the
cable about 2" at that point. I then ran the cables upward to the
counter weight brace (don't remember the nomenclature). I mounted a long
piece of plywood that extended beyond the width of the brace. I then
placed two more nylon fairleads on the ends and bolted it to the
verticals. This brought the cables up and off the floor of the fuselage
and almost in a straight line to the Singleton bell crank that is
mounted to the back of the rear bulkhead. This path keeps the cables in
a straight line (almost) from the cable pulley by the seat and gets them
away from the fuel lines ect. that populate the tunnel. You get the jest
of the path. The fairleads keep the cable in line and keep it from
flopping around. The plywood pieces were coated with resin to weather
proof them and allow them to be bonded where needed and bolted to the
rear vertical framework.
I would like to come to the Tenn. get together. Lets hope the
weather is good as I want to fly up there. Maybe I can get Gary Stout to
fly up there with me. Its more fun to go as a flight of two. Maybe Bob
will be able to go also as a flight of three....
