I assume the Magnuson-Moss warranty act doesn't apply to aircraft?? If
it did, Rotax would be obligated to supply oil filters at no cost if
using a non-OEM filter would void the warranty.
To wit: I can use any oil filter I like for my Jetta TDI. VW
cannot 'void' my warranty if I don't use the VW filter. I 'DO' use the
VW filter, as it's the highest quality and the price is reasonable, but
I don't 'have' to.

an automotive source. The internals may not be the same, specifically
the filter element may be smaller and the compression spring securing
internal components may be subject to wearing through the casing due to
vibration. There is a Rotax Service Bulletin about this problem. 16
UL 96.
