A much more likely problem is the metal slicing through a simple
grommet or similar arrangement, thence wires or fuel line, and then
possible fire. For fuel, of the two FAA-acceptable methods,
appropriate would be an Adel clamp attached to a small angle bracket.
The hole in the SS sheet is sized so there's no chance of contact with
the hose. The other method is a bulkhead fitting, maybe not a good
idea on the flexible SS panel.
I think the risk of fire has to be extremely remote on a plastic
airplane, especially where the engine attach arrangement is more
central to the firewall and nearer to a fire. What a U.S. inspector
may alternatively 'let slide' is then a bit moot. The other question
re the effect of holes in the SS panel could similarly be moot, as
what it's going to prevent before other bad things start to happen in
a fire appears questionable.
