Duncan,
        You can use a Van's small naca vent and install it in the lower
cowl and run a duct to and through the fire wall and to a eyeball vent. 
I did this for my pax side.  He now has the usual knee cooler and the eye
ball vent in the panel just under the parcel shelf .  By the way all knee
coolers should be placed rearward and up from the usual place.  Get into
the fuselage and set in the "seat" and find the best position.  It might
be on the glue line but so what. I did that on my side and I am glad I
did.  The pax side was done the "normal" way but its to low and to far
forward for best effect.
