I was told that or read it somewhere. I think many of these things are made 
up by someone in the past and end up being a gospel followed through 
eternity. I am sure that 16 inches will work fine. I have not secured mine 
yet. I have just finished chasing down numerous seeping connections and have 
a tight system now.
