Bob,

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I have decided to install a fuel guage
for in flight in addition to the sight tube. The tube would be mainly for
pre-flight.

Hi! Richard.
I have a seat back device, which is Ok for preflight verification of
contents because stood to one side you can see the fuel meniscus, however
for in flight visual checking it is very poor since the line of sight is
downwards making the meniscus invisible.
There is no doubt in my mind that the Europa method by your right knee is
the best for using as an inflight gauge but only so long as you don't mind
sitting in a ring of plastic piped fuel!!!

I have been surfing the archive ref. the fuel sight gauge positioning and
tubing routing. The favourite seems to be to route the sight tube up the
seat back then take the tube across the seat back and connect it with a 'T'
fitting or a dual vent fitting outlet to the tank vent.

Am I reading this correctly, are there any problems with this set up and is
it an 'approved' mod or is approval not needed for this?

Also any other suggestions??
