Hi Paul,
I have mixed feelings about that. I know of two early Europas with fillets
made the plans way and similar or gaps. Both had signs of paint/filler
cracking where the fillets had strained the fuselage side under G loads,
(could be landing shocks) and not necessarily high loads. Both had very
stiff fillets, because of the foam core .
I made my fillets in a mould using 3 plies of BID, bonded them on tight
against the fuselage, then filled the fuselage out flush with the fillet.
Looked great, and gave no problems. The fillets need to be flexible to
accommodate wing movement, maybe Andy will tell us how much it moves?
