Engine Installation - FIRE HAZARD !

Hi folks

Its me again, the duty harbinger of doom !

I have just been looking over Ron Swindens Rotax engine installation and
noticed to my horror that the twin carbs are located directly above the
exhaust manifold exits to two of the cylinders. The distance from the
carbs to the pipes is less than two inches. OK so it is possible to
construct drip trays/ shields but as far as I am aware the installation
manual does not specify this.
I would assume that this situation would be the same for any Rotax 912
installation in any aircraft so the Europa is not unique.

My worry if it is'nt obvious is that were the floats to jam, or there
was a leak then then fuel would almost certainly spill on to the red hot
pipes (via the overflow pipe) causing a fire, if not an explosion.

Am I being paranoid about this potential hazard or is there something
that I have missed. I would welcome comments from anyone who has the
answer to this one.

Not yet at engine fitting stage (but fairly close )
