Hi Duncan "That would be true for the monowheel, with its unhelpful outrigger geometry (i.e.outrigger axes well behind the mainwheel axle)." Perhaps we should be thinking in terms of "Applied Arcaic Technology" and actually attach a couple of axes forward on wing tips like WW1 Bi/Tri planes for beginners (and those well experianced)! Kinda sortta in line with main wheel. Real men need not be scared to hit brake if you are not going absolute straight!!
