Ah so the secret is longer levers?

I am thinking is that you mount everything within the tunnel with two slits
for the levers and no other openings on the top of the tunnel - all
maintenance done from the belly.

Is this right?

Will,

Yes, I did originally, but with limited success, mainly because I used the
original levers with short extensions. Whatever cylinders you use, you need
long and strong handles. The original gokart cylinders were certainly less
troublesome otherwise. Myself and other builders had to fiddle around quite
a bit with the Jamar dual cylinder before it worked properly.
