Jeremy
I spoke to Manx Telecom on the subject and was told that they do have
roaming agreements with certain UK networks. Tri band phones should work
fine, but at a cost. The older types of single band phones probably wont
work, so for next years event I will be offering " flying girlfriends"
complete with tri band accessories. On the subject of scousers I don't
think we can generalise here as, after all its only a few of them that
get confused as to which pockets belong to them and which don't :-)

Maybe all his dodgy mobiles signing on to the network caused the network
to pull access to all non-IoM mobiles?

Not that I'd ever assume a Scouser was dishonest by default, of
course...

Mine was an O2 triband. It works throughout Europe and the States. It
did not work there. I spoke to many people at the rally who confirmed
the same problem. Most interesting was the man (a Liverpudlian) who was
selling mobiles and accessories at the rally. It was him who explained
the problem to me. Surprisingly my wife managed to phone me during the
afternoon. She tried again later but was refused access for the rest of
the day.
