Just a 'trawl' to see if others have had similar problems.

I bought a new stainless steel exhaust system for my 'classic' and found
that the stub pipes were tight. One so tight that I couldn't get it out
again. Luckily I was workshop fitting it and it wasn't on the 'plane,
otherwise I would have been in real trouble.

I decided that it was Europa's problem and took it along to them to get out.
They ended up by cutting it out as all other attempts failed. All the stub
pipes are a very tight fit and only go 3cm into the sleeves at best, whereas
the full fit available is 5cm. At 3cm I don't think the springs will fit as
the distance between the lugs is too long.

Also, all the pipes are slightly oval which exacerbates the problem. I am
having to try and make the pipes fit by working on the external and internal
diameters as I cannot imagine I will be able to fit the system on the
'plane, especially as the silencer has to be joggled onto the two stubs from
the rear cylinders in particular.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? I have to say that the original
non-stainless system fitted fine and is only being replaced due to
corrosion - shame!

Happy days,

Peter Davis
