For the first two years of ownership I was paying AVEMCO $US 1,600 per year for
a hull value of $US 80,000. This past November my renewal statement arrived
with a price of $US 3,800....a 137% increase! When I called to complain, they
simply said "it's due to 9/11/01". I told them to take their insurance an put
it where the sun doesn't shine. I then called Falcon Insurance Agency in
Lakeland
Florida. They were able to insure me at the $US 1,700 price........close
to what I had been paying. My plane is a Tri Gear, but I've heard that several
insurance companies won't insure the monowheel Europas......or any "high
performance, retractable, kit plane". My only advise is to shop around.

25% to 2274 - ( 42K value - its a 412 VP prop )
Are we all facing increases like this, one assumes because of Sept 11th, or are
we crashing more Europas - anyone paying significantly less than this on a

renewal basis ?
