Alodyning (see http://www.eaa1000.av.org/technicl/corrosion/corridx.htm) for
aluminium alloy parts is easy, relatively cheap and by all accounts an
anti-effective corrosion treatment by itself and a very effective treatment
under paint. Remember that a lot of these parts will be inaccessable once
the fuselage module is bonded in so the paint debate is weighed heavily in
favour of corrosion prevention rather than the ease or otherwise of possible
future crack detection.

I followed most of the scheme outlined by Tony Krzyzewski in the early pages
of his web site (http://www.kaon.co.nz/europa/) and have been very happy
with the result (thanks Tony!)

Subject: Metal parts.

Question to the group.

I am about to install the control system in the cockpit module and noticed a
builder's web site discussing painting the control parts. Is this needed? I
was considering zinc chromate for corrosion protection, but I would think a
thicker coating of paint might make it more difficult to inspect for cracks
down the road.

Any opinions out there?
