Did mine the same way. Have not flown yet. Used a four inch piece of
hinge with the servo mounted on the under side of the aileron.

This is a fairly easy mod to make. You need the MAC S9 servo which is
the smallest one they make. The S9 servo comes with details of how to
make a Lancair trim tab which uses a piece of hinge on the trailing edge
and you could copy this technique. You could also make the hinge out of
a section of the aileron but this is a bit trickier but definitely
prettier.

The basic technique is to cut a box section big enough to house the
servo from the underside surface. The box should have a lip on the upper
side to fit a plate. The sides of the box should be lined with 3 layers
of bid, bonded to the surfaces with flox corners. I created a small
groove to take the drive arm to the tab while others I have seen
embedded a tube.

It has been recommended to me by an experienced Europa pilot to install
a
roll trim tab (electric servo) in the port side aileron. I understand
from
MAC (now Ray Allen Company) that several Europa builders have done this.
Although I have not started building yet, the time to do this mod would
of
course be at the early stage, so I would appreciate to learn from those
who
have done it, both with respect to technical info and operational
experience, as well as from those who have considered it but decided not
to
(reason for why not). If anyone has a word of caution, that will also
be
very much appreciated.
