The posts to date on this topic are substantially consistent with my
experience. However...the surface epoxy is not a substitute for
filler, where one needs/desires to fix any bumps, depressions, or
straightness in the surface. It is impossible to tell when you are
sanding through glass fibers. With filler, you'll know right away.
Therefore, you can sand only to the point of removing the pattern left
by the peel ply. Beyond that, you need filler, and be careful when
feathering the edges of the filler.
