I too made this mistake... I placed a small order from Aircraft and Spruce
UK who told me they they didn't stock these particular items so they would
be sent direct from the States....
By the time I had paid the shipping charges the order value had doubled !!!
I was not impressed!

I now try to source all my materials from UK sources it works out much
cheaper in the end.

PS - I told UPS (DHL in my case) to poke their 10 admin charge(admin charge
for what it's their business to carry goods across borders)? They haven't
asked for it since!
