With the existing arrangement all the lugs in the wing are built into two
ply glass lay-ups ,Your suggestion is fair except that a method of attaching
the single lug to the middle of the two ribs in the trailing edge of the
wing would need another rib ? Furthermore the tufnol block provides Outboard
stiffness ensuring the flap drive pin doesn't disengage.

PS.
Today the PFA Issued The Initial Flight Test Authorisation for G-PTAG but
slapped a 15 hour shakedown on it because it is first of type with a Jabiru
3300 and MT Propeller.----- Still more Expense !
