I found 2 sites with excellent explanations and
advice concerning fueling fires:

www.chevron.com/prodserv/bulletin/product%5Fsafety.html

www.ccohs.ca/oshanswers/prevention/flammable_static.html

Chevron says that of 20 such fires in the U.S.
over a 5-year period, almost all involved pickup
trucks with bed liners. There could be something
weird with pickups. Mine often gives me small
jolt when, in exiting, I step on the ground and
touch the door metal part of the door. Some
pickups may not easily discharge static through
the tires like Chevron says. Maybe the Europa
doesn't either (note also the cautions about
fueling things sitting on a trailer).

Anyway, the above pages do seem to say that the
best insurance is a metal supply container on the
ground, and ensure that at least the filler neck
on the Europa is at ground potential also, such as
through the wire interconnect Peter Lert advised.
