It is quite common for fuel to find its way back down manifold tappings
in car engines, e.g. the line to the vacuum advance on older engines. It
probably occurs through a distillation process, but I don't think it
matters. What is more concerning is if a previously dry pressure gauge
dial has liquid in it, as the dial area is normally open to the
atmosphere. That would imply that there is a leak in the pressure
sensitive element inside (the Bourdon tube). I say previously dry,
because some pressure gauges are liquid filled to suppress pulsations.
