G'day Richard,

Sorry to hear you are leaving the Europa family, particularly as I am
about to enter it. I am 6' 3" and I know the difficulties you have spoken
about with your long legs. I am currently awaiting delivery of stage 1 of
my 'XS' kit (no 356) in the land Downunder, and I hope that the new cockpit
mod might alleviate the problem a little.

I have spent many hours at a time in a kayak, with my knees wrapped around
my ears. I remember one event after a 13 hour overnight paddle, the
numbness and discomfort lasted a very short time, the memory of the paddle
has continued to bring a smile to my face for years. I'm rather hoping the
Europa will be at least as inspirational to fly as my kayak is to paddle
(if not... I can always wait till the doors fly off, turn the fin upside
down, and make it into a boat.). In any event, I think I'd rather do a
couple of shorter hops in a plane that I loved to fly, than a 3 - 4 hour
trip in an armchair.

I also enjoyed the revelation that the stiff upper lip, for which you poms
are so well renown, is very much restricted to that small part of one's
anatomy. :-).

PS I enjoyed watching the Australia v England cricket matches over the
last couple of months from your wonderful country. I think some of your
cricketers may also be suffering numb bums after the spanking they got...
:-))

Richard... I hope you'll reconsider.. I'd love to be able to trade some
'cheeky' stories with you one day rather than listen to chemistry lessons
on Carbon Monoxide etc. from all those short arse pilots (sorry!.. am I
allowed to say that on the forum??).

Cheers,

Warren Webb (no 356)
