Duncan,
Mechanically, I'm not a fan of the manual flap bar. I also do not like a s
low actuator.
Attached is my aircraft flap drive modification. Of course, you will need
modification approvals and do some research on your own. The Motion Indust
ries unit I use is fast, powerful, but I had to work with them to get the r
ear support hole the way I wanted it so I could use the basic Europa bracke
t to attach it to the floor. I also had to cross drill the head to prevent
it from unscrewing while being careful not to let Motion know it is in an
airplane, they don't want to sell one even if it is experimental aircraft.

Ah litigation. Anyway, I am happy with this type of fast servo. Perhaps a
bit of looking you may find one. It is easier running wires than making a
flap bar with all its supports and linkages. Although it would be a fun e
xercise.

Good Luck.

Bud Yerly

The former.

On a related question, has anyone replaced their electric flaps with a manu
al system (but not the mono system of levers and rods)?
The Motion Systems servo requires increasing amounts of commutator cleaning
(now down to about 10 hour cycles, which is too much, and has been a probl
em on RVs too).
