Fuel point it which fuel vaporises is also very much a function of fuel 
pressure.
The electric pump pressurises all the fuel lines within the cowling, as opposed
to the mechanical pump which only affects the pipes from the pump to the
carbs; your fuel return line helps all the time that the engine is running, but
the electric pump can return vapour to liquid in a matter of a few moments when
turned on (can, not will!)
