Fellow Europaphiles,
For all you 914 owners who were not able to acquire one of the Billet mechanical
fuel pumps, dont feel bad. My pump lasted about 100 hrs before developing a
significant leak back into the gearbox and thence into the sump. Its quite a
surprise when you burp the engine to check the oil level and you have to remove
about a pint of stinky, fuel-contaminated oil from the reservoir.
Since the unit is not supported I am returning to the two electrical pump
configuration
as per ROTAX installation instructions (914 Installation Manual Page
84). I have been collecting the bits and pieces of hardware and fuel injection
hose and will spend tomorrow putting it all back as per the manual.
Looking forward too seeing Yall in about 6 weeks at AirVenture!
