Bit late on this one, but on my monowheel in Kenya I have fitted the microswitch
in the retract bay, and the contact plate on the LG08(L). The contact plate
only contacts the switch when the LG08 is overcentre, and in contact with the
pad on the landing gear mounting frame; and therefore when the whole system is
properly locked. A green light is activated on the panel to show gear locked.
A microswitch on the retraction lever or in the gate only tell you when the
retraction lever is in the gate; any slack in the system, and the lever might
be in the gate, but the LG08 is not overcentre. It all works fine, except when
the microswitch got covered in wildebeest crap, landing on a bush strip in
the annual Serengeti/ Mara wildebeest migration...
