Tony=0Athere is very little load on the flap operating mechanism because th
e flaps are pivoted =0Avery close to the aerodynamic centre. (of the flap)
=C2- With a correctly adjusted manual system=C2- =0Athe flap can be pla
ced anywhere within it's range and won't move unless pushed. Any bending wi
ll be caused by=0Athe flap motor pushing on a stop somewhere.=0AMake sure t
he flaps retract fully, you want a very slight reflex of the trailing edge,
=0Aflat on the top of the wing, not the bottom=0AGraham=0A=0A=0A=0A=0A_____

w268@gmail.com>=0A=0AHi,=0AI=99ve noticed my ply insert for my electr
ic flaps moves up and down. I want the flaps to be obviously rigidly held u
p, against the mechanical stop in the electric motor, but also for them to
be not vibrating too much when fully extended. The floor is pulled up by th
e actuator being fully retracted, when the flaps are extended, so an aerody
namic load through the flaps will harmonic vibrate the skin basically upwar
d. I=99m wondering if there would be any benefit in making the floor
rigid in this spot, by creating a reinforcement sandwich strap. =0AIdeas ki
ndly accepted. I=99d much prefer to do it now as I can actually do it
with the top off in my good jig (yes, ex you Kingsley). I=99m even t
empted to put in the main gear legs for the tri, because I have such good a
ccess at the moment, but I=99m going taildragger already. The mod I a
m using was offered up years ago by Bob Berube, of Florida, and it looks li
ke it should go really well, with similar geometry to the original mono whe
el. Some have said it might suit a different main gear position, and it doe
s make me wonder if I should set up the ply inserts in the back seat footwe
lls, as I call them. Anyone got an estimate of how long it would take to pu
t in the inserts and what they=99d weigh to carry round? =0ALastly, i
s there a 3D laser styled device you can wander around the inside of the fo
otwells that will create a 3 D image of them, in relation to each other, su
ch that you could then create a very tight ply insert if you could mill it
out with something. It just frustrates me the number of times I=99d l
ike some sort of 3D pattern maker. If something like this exists, what are
they called and does anyone know whether you could do such a thing? I know
its probably bigger than Ben-Hur but one day it won=99t be. =0ARegard
