Terry=0AI think what happens is that the hose softens with heat then is com
pressed by the clip when it-takes-a permanent set, which lessens the cl
amping pressure. This-happens-repeatedly so we end up with-=0Aloose c
lips.=0AThe-spring-clips take up the slack as the hose softens and spre
ads so tension is retained.-=0AThere is also more even clamping so that l
ess pressure is needed.=0AHOWEVER, it's important to use the correct size o

=0A =0A=0AHi,=0A=0ADitto, we had leakeage for years with the worm drive cla
mps.- As the inner metal fitting heats first (and expands) it crushes the
hose against the clamp, which does not heat as quickly.- As it cools, th
e crushed hose now has space for coolant to leak from.- Later on, you not
ice the loose clamp and tighten it a little.- The next time you run the e
ngine, the process repeats itself.- We finally switched to spring clamps
and have not had the problem since.=0A=0ATerry Seaver=0A=0A=0A=0A-----Origi

been my experience that worm drive clips will ultimately leak due to=0Athe
thermal expansion & contraction from summer to winter. I ended up using=0A
the spring clips similar to what Rotax use for the coolant hoses on the top
=0Aof the engine.=0A=0ACheers,- Paul
