Karl,

If the battery checks out (and no loose connections), then check the output
of the clicking solenoid to verify it is supplying power to the starter.
The contacts may have moved apart due to melted plastic, or they could be
corroded, etc. There should be voltage to the starter, when the solenoid is
clicked on.

Greg Fuchs

Hi,

I found myself stranded with an engine that would not start. There was only
a click from the relay, but no movement up front. I got the aircraft home on
my trailer, it was to be my last flight this season anyway.
I assume it is a broken sprag clutch. Has anyone got experience in that area
? My question is: does it require removal of the engine ?
I removed the starter motor and it checks out okay. Hand turning the prop is
also no problem.

Appreciate any advice.

Karl
