Yep, but only because it is mandatory here. If I would have the choice,
I would just use a PLB instead of an ELT. The PLB can be used for other
purposes as well, and you can easily take it with you in case you have
to ditch. The ELT will sink to the bottom together with the ship.
Furthermore, I'm not convinced that in a serious crash, where you are
not able to walk away from, the ELT with separate antenna will survice
as one working unit.

I would do it that way if mounting the silly remote switch "within the
view of the pilot" wasn't a mandatory thing.
