Hi All

You ask if anyone can lower outriggers separately.

I have a mono with flaps and outriggers that go down separately. The
outriggers are electric and each have there own screw jack mechanism.
The flaps are also electric. The outriggers are linked to the u/c in
that they start to go down when the undercarriage is lowered. They also
start to retract when the u/c is retracted. This link was a really
sensible suggestion from Francis Donaldson PFA. However I can over ride
the mechanism and put the outriggers down when everything is retracted.
My original thinking was that this would act as a break when trying to
slow a slippery aircraft. In this I was wrong. When the outriggers are
down on there own they make only a wee bit of difference in the cruise,
around half a knot at 130 kts. This is much less than I had expected. My
outriggers do not have spats yet though I am about to do this.
Incidentally I have a whole panel of LEDs to tell me what state
everything all these things are in. On final I check for five greens. I
do like lots of lights.
