The Bing CD carb works to an extent by responding to mass flow. So changes
in mass resulting from high altitude (for example) are to an extent
compensated for.

It has often been stated that the 912 Bings will compensate to 5,000 feet
(although I've heard it stated as 7,000 feet from other quarters).
Certainly my own experience does not show significant EGT changes over that
sort of height range, confirming that there is some compensation effect at
work.
