Bob,
I am having the same consideration to deal with. I planned to lay
one front battery on its side and the best device I've yet seen was a three
inch wide strap of 1/8inch alu plate hinged at the 'bottom', up over and
across, and down the front to a bolt for clamping, with two
one-inch-per-side angle alus to hold each end in place. rawing on request.
For a battery at the back I made a 3x6.75x7.125inch block of foam and boxed
in the bottom half with four layers of BiD, so I could position it wherever.
