John (and Patti)
You have been great and most supportive. I am sure you are going to get
many thankyous and wish you well messages. I am hoping that whatever
kind of reorganization occurs that you are part of it and in a stronger
role.
Because of the ? status of the Europa organization I found a builder to
make me a trailer and have ordered one.
Are there any long wings available? If so, I would be tempted to grab
them up!

Hi All,

I can't say what is happening in the UK, as I only have responsibility
for managing their US office.

As far as the US office goes, we are scaling back here quite a bit for
now. As of July 15 the office will be available on a part time basis
only. This is due in part to the fact that the US dollar has not been
worth much against the UK pound for quite some time. Though the company
initially felt it prudent to sell kits at a loss in the US to stay in
the market, the exchange rate continues to be unfavorable longer than
expected. Though I will miss being here full time, I do feel that this
is a positive step for the company to reorganize, focusing it's assets
where they are needed most on new developments & better parts stores.

We will also be selling our two US demonstrators. However, we are
currently planning to keep our hanger & office at the Lakeland Florida
airport.

I will continue to remain on a part time, volunteer basis to support our
existing builders.

The company president, and managing director, Keith Wilson, also informs
me that he is very committed to supporting our existing US builders, and
delivering any backordered parts to US builders.

I was also informed that the company has future plans for the US, and
Canada, possibly to include the upcoming Sport Plane category in the US,
and the existing Advanced Ultralight category in Canada.

Finally, the UK has just informed me that we will not be attending the
fly-in at Oshkosh this year. I do still hope that many of you fly-in
with your Europa as planned however. The reserved area will still be
available.

Happy Building & Flying!

I heard today that the europa office is going to adopt a part-time
schedule of weekends, due to lack of revenue. This is quite unsettling
news. While i know there is a strong community of europaphiles out
there (here), to have a plane become an orphan when it is only half
finished is not a nice feeling. How's it going in the UK?
