I think the Liberty have solved this issue by (from what I can see from the
photos) raising the height of the 'headrest'. But then it has a higher roof
line too, and raising the headrests would not interfere so much with loading
baggage, as it would on the homebuilt version.

Still can't see why the exiting headrest could not be extended with a stout
triangulated pylon over which the shoulder harness could be routed. I
suppose the whole lot would then need load testing, but I'm not offering
mine for this!!
