One thing I keep thinking about is that I was considering a tri gear 
airplane. I am sure that any additional drag from the windows will pale in 
comparison to the drag of 2 extra wheels hanging down in the breeze! I do 
agree that it seems they could have tapered the aft portion of the window, 
but I would not characterize it as severe -- from my observation from having 
the windows.
