So Tony, I have some CM trimmings to us as straps, but if I glue em to the
bottom of the module they will add a bit of thickness locally? I cant see
where else a strap might be glued on and work.

Just make a couple of straps with bid to hold it to the require dimensions.
These remain in place when you bond the cockpit module in place.
This spacing is really important if you want to avoid the flap cross tube
touching the back of the baggage bin.
