Further news -- I spoke to this dealer again today (to place an order!) and
discovered that the person I spoke to wasn't aware the transponder was
available so gave me a price for the transciever instead!
A more knowledgeable dealer (Edge Aviation) is quoting $2,300 Australian
(around $1,200 US) for the T2000SFL. Sorry to raise false hopes!

I got excited about the T2000 after seeing Tony's original mail and got a
phone quote from one of their Australian Dealers (Air Communications) of
around $1270 Australian. Given the dismal state of the Oz dollar (about 0.5
USD/0.35 GBP) the overseas price should be pretty attractive.
