Another possible cause for the door fitting properly until the
strut is added is that the hinge point for the fuselage end of
the strut is too close to the outside skin. The inner side of the
door can then contact the lower socket which acts as a fulcrum to
lever the hinge upwards as the door is closed. Put a blob of
modeling clay on the lower socket and close the door to check for
this.
